What to expect on Sundays
Have questions about visiting New City Church? Want to meet the pastors? Wondering about our children’s ministry? This guide to New City is designed to help you easily find what you’re looking for and answer your questions. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, we’re always just an email or phone call away.
We have three Sunday service times: 8:30a, 10:00a & 11:30a. Each service begins with worship followed by teaching, and communion. At the end of each service, there’s always time for getting prayer for personal needs and meeting future lunch companions.
New City is located in the heart of Downtown Phoenix at 1300 N. Central Avenue on the northwest side of Central and Culver. We’re just south of McDowell Rd and right across the street from Margaret T Hance/Deck Park, and there’s plenty of parking on-site.
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
We believe that God places such a high value on the teaching of His Word that it must be done with ultimate care and intentionality. Our desire is to remain faithful to the text of the Scripture and speak the truth in a way that our culture can accurately understand and apply it. In doing so, it is our goal to always use the The Gospel, not religion, to “solve the problem.”
This means we get at the core issues of sin and disobedience, but always provide hope through Jesus who has already overcome that sin. Finally, we strive to include non-believers by respecting doubts, including them explicitly, not being overly “emotive” and using illustrations and examples that show a respect and knowledge of the culture.
The highest value of worship at New City is “authenticity.” Whether that worship is singing, or in all the other aspects of our lives, we know that God desires an open, humble and repentant heart. Our music is part of the way in which we prepare our hearts and minds to hear the word and to respond to that word. Also, as part of our worship, after service we take communion together and give offerings to support God’s work at New City. All in all, the atmosphere is casual, reflective, and open to all.
New City Kids
Partnering with parents to raise children who love Jesus
The children’s ministry at New City is designed to encourage the next generation to choose Jesus everyday and experience the abundant life He came to give. Each Sunday, your child will learn the Bible and how it relates to Jesus in an age-appropriate way. The lessons are fun and approachable, and taught by committed volunteers and staff who serve Jesus by serving you and your kids.
- For your little ones, infants through 4th grade, we have interactive worship and hands-on lessons at all of our Sunday services.
First Time Guests
To ensure a smooth check-in the first time around, arrive a couple minutes early. This will help you get the lay of the land and register your child in New City’s secure check-in system.
Arrival and Check-in
Your child’s safety is important to us, and that’s why we use a check-in software that assigns each child a unique number. Only parents or guardians with the matching receipt will be able to check-out the child.
If you ever have any questions, any member of our staff or any of our volunteers will be happy to help you!
If you have any questions or concerns about your first visit or our children’s program we’d love to have a conversation with you. Email us at email@example.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can!
Meet the Pastors & Staff
Have a burning question about something you heard in the sermon? Love the message so much that you feel compelled to high five the preacher? Not a problem, after each service—for at least 10 minutes—you’ll always have the opportunity to meet the pastors, ask questions, or just get prayer with people who care and are ready to talk to Jesus on your behalf.
And if you can’t wait ’til Sunday, check out our team bios and get to know the pastors and staff a bit better in the meantime.
