As we get closer to Easter, we’re looking forward to gathering during Holy Week—a time that leads up to Easter Sunday, where we remember the final days of Jesus’ life and celebrate the hope we have in Christ.

At New City, Holy Week includes Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday—each a meaningful part of the story we reflect on and proclaim. This year is especially exciting—we’re anticipating over 3,500 people across our Holy Week services!

Scroll down for details on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter. It’s the perfect time to invite your friends, family, and neighbors to experience it alongside you.

Check out the video below to view our 2024 recap!

If New City is your home, we’re asking everyone to jump in and serve during Holy Week. Whether it’s Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, or Easter Sunday, this is an incredible time to be part of what God is doing. If you’re attending Easter services, we encourage you to serve one and attend one! And if you’re new to New City, volunteering is a great way to meet people and feel connected as you serve alongside others. We’ve linked the serving opportunities below—let us know where you can jump in!

Maundy Thursday

“…go and prepare the passover for us that we may eat it.”

April 17th, 6:30pm
New City Church

Share a 1st century Passover meal with us like Jesus did with his disciples before he went to the cross. We’ll gather together outside at New City Church for a special service and light meal. It will include lamb, bitter herbs, unleavened bread, charoset and wine. Kid’s programming will be provided for birth through preschool.

Registration is required so that we can plan for the amount of food needed. If you’d like to help us cover the costs of the meal, we would appreciate a donation of $15 for an individual or $40 for a family.

Registration closes on April 10th.

Good Friday

“…but he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.”

April 18th, 6:30pm
New City Church

Join us Good Friday for a self-guided, reflective experience centered on the sacrifice of Jesus, featuring an introspective display of ancient artwork.

The open house runs from 6:30–8:30 pm, with each walkthrough taking about 25 minutes. Stick around afterward for drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and conversation. No registration required. While there’s no kids programming, the whole family is welcome to join!

Easter Sunday

“…and they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus…”

April 20th, 7:00 am*, 8:30 am, 10:00 am & 11:30 am
New City Church

Celebrate Easter with us at New City!
We’ll gather for multiple services to rejoice in the hope and victory we have through Jesus. To help us prepare, please register in advance for the service you’ll be attending—be sure to include everyone sitting with you in the auditorium.

Baptisms will take place outside during every service. If you’re ready to take that next step in your faith and be baptized on Easter morning, we’d love to celebrate with you. Just use the link below to sign up.

We’ll have a message, worship, and a New City Choir—plus some extra Easter fun! Part of Culver Street will be closed so you can enjoy donuts and coffee, photo ops for the family, and a welcoming, family-friendly environment. Kids can also enjoy a bounce house and a petting zoo across the street at the AZ Humanities building.

*There will not be kid’s programming for the 7:00 am service. We will provide kid’s programming for the 8:30 am, 10:00 am, and 11:30 am services only!
